About us.....

Abingdon Carbon Cutters is a Community Action Group formed to help reduce the carbon footprint of Abingdon in response to climate change, and to promote a sustainable and resilient lifestyle for our town as fossil fuel stocks decline. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at St Ethelwold's House, which is here.

At some meetings, we have guest speakers to present various topics, and at others we discuss our own personal actions to address climate change. The group has a focus on encouragement, both of one another, and of the town community.

WOOD FESTIVAL 21st - 23rd May

Brazier’s Park, Oxfordshire

POWERED 100% by renewable energy

Included in The Sunday Times’ Best Things to See and Do in 2010

Dear CAGs

Our friends at TRUCK and WOOD festival are keen to thank you all for the hard work you do, and the commitment you have shown to community action of all types. A few months ago they extended the offer of discounted tickets to WOOD Festival - and this offer is still open to you (and your families) to get cheaper tickets by following www.gigantic.com/thankyou

WOOD is Britain's greenest festival powered completely on renewable energy, harnessing the power of the sun, the wind and even the people who attend the event (through a cycle-powered cinema and disco), there are composting toilets (no portaloos. Whoop!) and a stage made of, you guessed it, WOOD. It was created after the floods of 2007 - and is piloting a new green festival standard in conjunction with Julies Bicycle.

With great music from award winning, mercury nominated and critically lauded band THE UNTHANKS busker punk FRANK TURNER, experimental folks TUNNG, the ever popular Irish troubadour FIONN REGAN, 2008 winner of Radio2 Folk Award MARTIN SIMPSON, friends of the festival DANNY AND THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD and all the way from the USA FRONTIER RUCKUS. Also confirmed are ORA COOGAN, TREVOR MOSS & HANNAH LOU, and DUSTY AND THE DREAMING SPIRES, PEGGY SUE,

But we know you lot like to be active so over the weekend, and withover 50 workshops and taster sessions covering everything from urban gardening, twitching, singing, woodcraft, yoga, the giant knit off, story-telling, and thatching, to making wallets from orange juice cartons, oh, and campfire sing-alongs.

Weekend Tickets cost £70 for adults, which includes camping and all workshops. There's a junior ticket for ages 13-17 priced £50, children 12 & under can come along for free! Be sure to follow this link so you get the slap on the back you deserve. http://www.gigantic.com/thankyou
